NewJeans’ Hanni and Baseball Player KIA’s Kim Do-young, blossoming romance? From public mentions to parody, what’s their relationship?
The upcoming episode of “Omniscient Interfering View”, airing on Saturday, December 28 at 11:10 PM, will feature the daily life of KIA Tigers’ Kim Do-young, 2024 KBO League MVP.
The show teases Kim Do-young dressing up as “Do-ni”, mimicking NewJeans’ Hanni, showcasing his playful side.
Previously, Hanni gave a shout-out to Kim Do-young on new Instagram account.
On December 14, NewJeans posted a short video on their new Instagram account, @jeanzforfree, showing Hanni tossing a ball. In the video, she thanks Kim Do-young and tags his account.
Kim Do-young then shared the video on his account and expressed his excitement, saying, “Really a lie.” He also posted a picture of a PUBG character designed as OMG Hanni from the NewJeans and PUBG collaboration, with the caption “Unbelievable.”
Kim Do-young is currently the most famous baseball player in South Korea, with remarkable achievements like being the first player in KBO League history to hit 10 home runs and steal 10 bases in one month. He also holds the record for the youngest player to get the most base hits (Cycle Hit) with the fewest at-bats. He’s the youngest to score 100 points in a season with the fewest games, the youngest to achieve 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a season, and the record holder for most home runs in a season by a player under 21. He’s also the only player to win the monthly MVP award twice in one season.
Kim Do-young is known to be a fan of Hanni. Last month, at the KIA Fan Festa, he showed his admiration by dressing as Hanni and performing the song “Blue Coral Reef” in front of 5,000 fans, which became a big topic.
Meanwhile, NewJeans announced on November 27 that they were ending their contract with ADOR because the company didn’t fix the issues within 14 days of receiving a legal notice. As a result, they declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR.
On December 3, ADOR filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to confirm that their exclusive contract with NewJeans is still valid.
